July 2015

The weeks fly by here in the UK. It has been seven action packed weeks since David’s wedding. Where does the time go?

We have had two really good conferences. The first was at our church in Letchworth where the speakers were Jarrod Cooper, known to most as the songwriter of King of Kings, Majesty and now pastor of a successful church in Hull. The second was Steve Uppall, a senior pastor from Wolverhampton. Both men are inspirational yet down to earth, honest and funny and their teaching is excellent. The worship from our own worship band was amazing and the ministry brought breakthroughs to many. We all felt refreshed and inspired by The Holy Spirit.

The second conference was in a stifling and unaccustomed heat wave in London. Unfortunately there was only one ticket available and I was so blessed to spend three days enjoying great worship and the amazing ministry of Bill Johnson, Kris Vallaton and Paul Manwaring from Bethel church in Redding California.

Their teaching is practical and they are just humble men of God – no American hype, no star-status – just men greatly used by God who love his presence and have paid a great price to walk in it and bring their wisdom to others.  It was a great honour to be there.

Better still was that on the last night they prayed for, amongst many other things, arthritis. I was prayed for and it was fine but not significant. However next day Christopher and I were enjoying a much-needed catch-up cup of coffee and when I stood up I didn’t hobble like I normally do. God had healed my hips, just my hips. My hands, feet and knees were much the same but I felt like I had two new hip joints and I have been pain-free and hobble-free ever since. My knees are a little better but I look forward to God completing this healing miracle.

Bowls is a very dominant pastime in these summer months as the long hours of daylight mean we can play evening matches. Every week in June and July seems to be full of bowls which we enjoy but it is very time consuming. Christopher is club competitions secretary and spends time keeping everything up to date and organising events such as the triples afternoon, a club event that took many hours to arrange and for which I helped by catering for a buffet for 30 members.

Christopher also manages to squeeze in some golf and we both enjoy catching up with family and friends. We have been to birthday parties and had lunch and supper with others.

Sandringham House

and gardens

For our 45th wedding anniversary we took ourselves out for the day to Norfolk and visited the Queen at Sandringham. Of course, she wasn’t there but it is a beautiful estate. We then went for a meander along the Norfolk coast before stopping for a pub supper on the way home.

We also enjoyed meeting up with the Bonthuys family spending a few hours in Cambridge before taking them to Luton Airport for their onward journey to Holland.

Sarah and I have had the wonderful privilege of ministering together at a ladies tea in St Albans as well as at the church conference and then at a special ladies’ meeting in Letchworth. Finally the church held a prophetic presbytery, where we give personal prophecies to individuals. Again Sarah and I worked together and people waited up to two hours to be ministered to.

How can I write a blog and not comment on the weather? It has gone from cool and wet to boiling hot and one night we had a spectacular thunderstorm and now it is cool and wet again - so a typical British summer!
